The first day of a new professional era

This is how one director described waking up the morning after a team-building session we had facilitated for the executive team at NSIA Banque Côte d’Ivoire.

Not “That was great.” Not “Thanks for the training.”

“The first day of a new professional era.”

I reread that message several times. Because you can't just make up a sentence like that. It comes from someone who has actually experienced something—not just learned about it.

That’s the difference we strive to make with every project. It’s not about conveying information. It’s about raising awareness.

Throughout this series of synergy initiatives, we worked with several departments. Each team had its own dynamics, unspoken issues, and blind spots. Each team went through the same process: seeing themselves. Really seeing themselves—not how they’d like to be seen, but how they actually function together.

One director said, “Far from being a work method, team synergy is first and foremost a vision, a standard, and a commitment.”

Another director said, “The workshop allowed us to look beyond our usual perceptions and take an objective look at our group dynamics.”

What moved me the most was the candor. The sense of presence that the participants brought to the table. Their courage to point out what wasn’t working—and their determination to build something different.

Team coaching isn't a one-time event. It's a starting point.

What these directors experienced in Abidjan, I see it too in Toronto, Geneva, and Ottawa. The words change. The language changes. But what happens in the room—that indefinable thing that makes a team decide to choose one another—is universal.

That's why I do this job.
